Ourlads' Profile:
2021 Guide: What Ourlads' NFL Scouting Services said about MEKHI SARGENT: Iowa, 5084 210 4.60. Started games in all three seasons, Key West, FL. Was never the feature back. Honorable Mention All-Big 10 in 2020. Sargent is a back who runs physical and hyper, producing far more than his size and speed ratio would suggest. Accelerates in a hurry while keeping his pad level low to the ground. His greatest trait is balance and short area burst. Combine that with his aggressive, tough mentality and it creates a lot of yards after contact. He won’t be a feature back, as he doesn’t show enough ability to run well outside and he doesn’t look like a polished receiver. May not be big, but he can make things happen in short yardage situations. Powerfully built. Compact, muscular frame that packs extra punch. Physical runner between the tackles that runs with plus-balance. Absorbs hits, recalibrates, and will gain plenty of yards after first contact. Quick and subtle steps will help him miss the meat of a hit. Quickness and acceleration rate makes him appear like he is on fast forward off the snap. Hungry runner. Won’t waste time with the ball in his hands. Energetic and will find the creases. Runs bigger than his size. Averaged less than one catch per game over his career. Doesn’t keep his eyes calm as the ball approaches in the air. Top end speed won’t run away from defenders in space. Does not match his ability to run inside when asked to run outside the tackles. May be limited to specific calls. 2020 stats: 432 yds, 5.7 ypc, 7 TD, 1 rec, 6 yds, 6.0 ypr. Sixth/ seventh round. (A-30 3/8, H-9 3/8, BP-18, SS-4.30).
