Ourlads' Profile:
2022 Guide: What Ourlads’ NFL Scouting Services said about SMOKE MONDAY:
Auburn, 6016 207 4.52. Two-year starter, Atlanta, GA. Physical safety with solid size for the position. Played one and two high both Cover two and quarters. Also spent considerable time in the box. As a deep safety shows ability to process route combinations and read the quarterback delivery key. As a quarters safety can match tight ends and run with most. Excellent ball skills he has good anticipation and is quick to break on the ball. This is seen coming from deep and in flat coverage. Gets to the catch point and has been productive playing the ball. He has three interception returns for touchdowns in his career. From depth, comes downhill in a hurry cutting down running lanes. In the box, quickly reads run and moves well laterally to locate the ball. Has range to chase alley to alley. Makes most plays in space keeping back hip leverage on ball carriers. Makes a lot of explosive hits. Physical tackler, he can drop a ball carrier in his tracks. He doesn’t always wrap and relies too much on the big hit. A little stiff in backpedal and transition, he has trouble flipping his hips to gain ground. Tends to play high on blocks and can get washed out of the play. Has some trouble reacting to route combinations in the deep zones. His hip tightness leaves little margin for error. Some trouble redirecting versus play action and run/pass option. Future may be scheme dependent as his physicality plays best in the box. Has some linebacker-like characteristics. Has been a sound special team player on multiple teams. Should be a core special team player and solid backup early.
2021 stats: 63 T, 9 TFL, 2 sacks, 5 PBU, 2 QBH, 1 INT (1 TD). OSR:13/16. Fifth/sixth round. (A-32 1/2, H-9 1/8, VJ-30, SS-4.42).
