Ourlads' Profile:

2021 Guide: What Ourlads' NFL Scouting Services said about JACOBY STEVENS: LSU, 6012 216 4.62. Two year starter from Murfreesboro, TN. Stevens played wide receiver and safety through his freshman year before switching full time to defense. He has played all over the Tigers’ defense in his career. He has played linebacker, deep safety and the hybrid position lining up as an overhang player on the edge. Normally plays with a non-stop motor when he’s chasing. Has played one and two high and shows range over the top with solid ball skills using his length to attack the catch point. Can track downhill from the deep zones adjusting well in traffic. Takes proper angles in pursuit and is physical attacking and shedding blocks. Makes some big hits reacting from two high. At his best close to the line where he can make plays off-tackle and inline. Explosive tackler with gather and finish when in position. As an overhang player has been effective blitzing the edge making some big plays. Effective flat defender using his length to reroute and flip to get underneath intermediate receivers. Breaks quickly on throws in the short zones. LSU used him at inside linebacker early in the season and while he showed cover skill he struggled making inside reads and fitting inside gaps. Used mostly at safety or overhang the rest of the year. Has flashed some match skill on inside receivers but shows some hip tightness reacting to cuts. Playing many roles may have contributed to some inconsistency processing plays and balancing routes in deeper zones. Occasional hesitation gets him out of position and he will miss a tackle. A team will have to decide how to best use him. He has the size and ability of the hybrid/nickel linebacker. He may find a home there with the right team. 2020 stats: 63 T, 6 TFL, 3 sacks, 4 PBU, 2 QBH, 1 FF. Fifth/sixth round. (A-31 3/4, H-9 1/4, VJ-42, SS-NA).
