Ourlads' Profile:
2020 Guide: What Ourlads' Scouting Services said about JOSIAH SCOTT: Michigan State, 5092 185 4.44. Junior entry, three-year starter, Hamilton, OH. Honorable mention All-Big 10 as a junior after missing eight games as a sophomore with a knee injury. Played a variety of techniques including press and off man, along with hard corner and deep outside zone. Used a balanced shuffle pedal and maintains cushion by adjusting speed and timing. Has the speed to stay in phase on vertical routes. As a press corner can be disruptive at the line with an off-hand jam. Disciplined with movements ignoring the first move away from his leverage and is tough to shake in press. Fluid to change directions with quick lateral transitions. Mirrors cuts well and can cut underneath a route break. As a hard corner, footwork allows him to re-route receivers and close voids in between zones. Quick to break on the throw with ball skills for the interception. Willing tackler but size limitations cause him to be a drag down tackler at times. Not the most effective in run support versus a stalk block. Has some trouble with taller receivers and even in phase can give up a catch. Occasional false step on plant and drive but recovers quickly. Has had some injury issues and length limitations are a concern. He has solid cover skills and could project well as a slot corner/special teams ace. 2019 stats: 55 T, 7 PBU, 1 FF, 1 FR, 3 INT. OSR:9/29. Medical exclusion hamstring-no jumps or shuttle. Fourth/fifth round. (A-29 3/8, H-8 3/4, VJ-DNP, SS-DNP).
