Ourlads' Profile:
2021 Guide: What Ourlads' NFL Scouting Services said about CADEN STERNS: Texas, 6002 207 4.41. Junior entry, three year starter, Cibolo, TX. Athletic prospect with solid size and length for the position. Has excelled in multiple coverage. Has experience over the top in Cover 1, 2, 3 and quarters. Also drops down to the flat in Cover 3 and has experience playing man to man versus slots and tight ends. Plays smart in deep coverage with proper positioning to balance multiple routes. Processes route combinations and reads the quarterback’s delivery key to get in the throwing lane. In Cover 2 easily flips his hips to get over the top of deep outside routes. Quick to break on the ball, he has made some big hits separating receivers from the ball. Has a feel for the catch point and has solid hands for the interception. Has shown man to man skill mirroring slot receivers and shows the speed to stay in phase on vertical and wheel routes. Used as a blitzer off the edge and can create havoc chasing with a clear path. Tends to go low on tackles but doesn’t often miss. Coming downhill he doesn’t always take a good angle and can be a little hesitant. Not the most physical in run support. Struggles working off blocks and tends to try to work around the block rather than stun and separate. He sometimes creates a running lane as a result. A talented cover safety who can play in the right scheme. How his run support plays in the NFL will have to be evaluated and improved. Should fit as primarily a deep safety in a multiple scheme. 2020 stats: 52 T, 1.5 TFL, 3 PBU, 1 INT. Fourth/ fifth round. (A-32 1/8, H-9 1/2, VJ-42, SS-4.13).
