Ourlads' Profile:

2021 Guide: What Ourlads' NFL Scouting Services said about JORDAN SMITH: Alabama-Birmingham, 6061 255 4.80. Junior entry, two year starter, Lithonia, GA. Transferred to a JUCO from Florida after being suspended along with other Florida players for involvement in credit card fraud. Has redeemed himself the last two seasons since transferring to UAB. A lengthy prospect with long arms and wingspan. Played as a traditional 3-4 outside linebacker along with defensive end on most passing downs. Plays with a lot of energy. Fluid athlete, he changes direction easily and has outstanding range in pursuit. Uses his long arms to control edge blockers and shows a violent punch to stun and separate from blocks. Plays the perimeter run aggressively with no hesitation reacting in the backfield. Explosive tackler he launches into tackles with bend and leg drive to finish. Rarely misses as long arms are used well to wrap up shifty ball carriers. As a pass rusher has outstanding first step quickness that can beat a tackle out of his stance. Can bend the edge and squeeze to the quarterback. Flashes a quick push pull move to get around the corner along with a quick hand swipe to keep a blocker from his frame. Used to drop to the flat he can get underneath intermediate routes and quickly break on short throws. Quickness in pursuit gets him to tackles on short throws to wideouts. Sometimes is out of control upfield and can take himself out of a play. Lacks a consistent inside counter move if ridden outside by a tackle. On off-tackle power runs has trouble holding the point as a powerful blocker can drive him out. Has outstanding potential as a 3-4 outside linebacker but there is still some need for development. In the right scheme he could be a solid pick. 2020 stats: 43 T, 9.5 TFL, 4.5 sacks, 1 PBU, 8 QBH, 1 INT. Fourth/fifth round. (A-33 3/8, H-9 1/4, BP-16, SS-4.80, VJ-33).
