Ourlads' Profile:
2020 Guide: What Ourlads' Scouting Services said about JARED PINKNEY: Vanderbilt, 6040 257 4.96. Four-year starter, Norcross, GA. Peaked in 2018, earning second-team All SEC honors. Spent the majority of his snaps lined up in the slot. Not a traditional Y-tight end, as he struggles to maintain quality contact as a blocker in the trenches. However when it comes to making an impact as a receiver, he can beat man coverage against linebackers and defensive backs alike. The kind of tight end who can be moved around the formation pre-snap and make things happen in space. He is a reliable pass catcher in traffic on all levels of the route tree and could become a much better pro than what he was in college. Sturdy, strong build with long arms and huge hands. Effective receiver in traffic that wins a lot of contested situations. Shows outstanding concentration and coordination. Will make the spectacular catch where he has to adjust and turn late. Can get up the seam in a hurry but keeps a defense honest with his ability to stop and turn a tight corner. Snaps his head around and locates the ball. Has a wide and long catch radius stemming from both his size and leaping ability. Effective blocker in space against back seven defenders. Quality lockout with hand strength and grit. Not a powerful inline blocker. Doesn’t sustain quality contact and positioning against defensive ends and bigger outside linebackers. Doesn’t always find the vacant holes and creases against zone coverage. Gets caught up with defenders with a route runner, needs to stay cleaner. Doesn’t do a lot of damage after the catch. 2019 stats: 20-233, 11.7 ypr, 2 TD. OSR:18/ 19. Fourth/fifth round. (A-32 3/4, H-10 5/8, VJ-DNP, SS-DNP).
