Ourlads' Profile:

2012 Guide: What Ourlads' NFL Scouting Services said about DONTARI POE: Memphis, 6034 346 4.98. Junior entry. Two-and-a-half year starter who passes the look and athletic test. Light on his feet with a thick lower body. Endurance will be a question. Generally played most of his games with very little break. Has good lateral quickness to make a play on screen passes. When he drops his head he will go to the ground. Stays on his feet if his eyes are up. The big man drops into coverage in certain defensive schemes. Can get driven back on double teams and put on skates. Poe is a big man who can run. Takes good pursuit angles down the field. He has consistent technique breakdowns from pass rush, to defending the run, to tackling (hits but no wrap), to neutralizing and shedding the blocker. Will stop his feet when pressing the inside on pass rush. Question if he knows how to play the game at times. More of a one speed non-twitch defensive tackle. Doesn’t get off the ball on movement. His first step is up not out. Lacks the willingness to finish. In fairness, this big man gets very little break opportunities. Question his compete at times because he can get single blocked and turned out of the running lane. Some teams ran right at him and up the middle in Memphis. He may be a one gap penetrator if he learns to explode off the ball consistently. He flashes explosive first step quickness at times. Shows some ability to change direction quickly, redirect, and make a tackle. Has experience as a defensive end. Arm length is a question. His 10- time is an explosive 1.69, but rarely plays to that speed. Marginal production in Conference USA for three years. Must be classified as a underachiever at this point of his career. Has the God-given ability to be an impact player. A boom or bust type. 2011 stats: 33 tackles, 8 TFL, 1 sack, 1 FF. Edge speed:left 2.53, right 2.45. OSR:2/27. First round. (A-32, H-9 5/8, BP-44, 10-1.69).
