Ourlads' Profile:

2017 Guide: What Ourlads' NFL Scouting Services said about MARCUS WILLIAMS: Utah, 6010 202 4.56. Junior entry from Corona, CA. Two-year starter who played in 37 of 39 games over three years. Grabbed 11 career interceptions and 19 career passes defended. Collected Pac-12 honors on the field as well as twice collecting first-team All-Pac 12 academic honors. Good footwork and hip movement. Very good balance, body control, and short area burst. Wrap up tackler who can be depended on as a last line of defense. Can play deep zone coverage, does a nice job of keeping track of what is going on around him as plays break down. Shows midfield-to-sideline range. Knows what to do when he gets to the ball. Positions himself well in traffic and will consistently high point the ball. Very good leaper. Tough, hard nosed competitor who can direct traffic. Slender frame that lacks a physical presence when tackling. Absorbs hits rather than delivers them. Consistently fooled on double moves, pump fakes, and play action passes. Too aggressive downhill and plays a lot of catch up. Poor angles to the sideline in pursuit. Will tackle too high. Despite missing some time this past season with a knee injury, Williams proved to be one of the top ball hawks in the class. He shows a very advanced skill set when it comes to getting himself in position and making plays on the ball. Even though he has a good reputation of constantly being in or near the action, he was too easily fooled and let up a lot of big plays. As a last line of defense in the secondary, he needs to do a better job of diagnosing what is real and what is not. In addition, his frame needs more meat so that he can add a presence to his tackling rather than getting knocked backwards so often. Developmental, potential starter down the road. 2016 stats: 64 T, 1 TFL, 3 PBU, 1 QBH, 2 FF, 5 INT. BTR:left 4.47, right 4.70. OSR:9/22. Second/third round. (A-32 1/ 2, H-9 1/2, VJ-43.5, SS-4.21).
