2015 Guide: What Ourlads' NFL Scouting Services said about TJ CLEMMINGS: Pittsburgh, 6046 309 5.12. Two-year starter from Teaneck, NJ. Was a top tier defensive end recruit out of high school but made the move to right tackle prior to the 2013 season. He looks like a completely different player right now in contrast to last year. Clemmings is a fluid athlete who brings a power-style to the line. At his best as a run blocker, showing the ability to drive straight ahead and move laterally with a presence. Plenty of skill work ahead of him as a pass blocker but the ability is there and he has shown flashes of being a dominant overall lineman. High upside prospect who may need some extra time to smooth his rough edges. Struggled during the Senior Bowl practices with edge speed. Lacked suddenness and redirect quickness. Quick and strong with wide shoulders and thick legs. Light and athletic feet that he keeps moving. Punishing run blocker who is at his best when moving downhill and driving the defender back. Will finish blocks, plays to the whistle. Violent punch that stones the defender. Controls the defender and can stop them in their tracks. Gets to the second level fast and has the agility to move with linebackers. Good balance and body control in pass protection. Stays square to his man. Anchors his position, won’t be pushed back. Still new to the position, only played offensive tackle for two years. Late to get out of his stance and will allow the defender into his body. Hands are too wide and he will get grabby to the shoulder pads of the defender. Needs to show better footwork when pass protecting the edge. Shows hesitation as a pass protector. OSR:7/41. Second/ third round. (A-35 1/8, H-10 3/8, BP-22, 10-1.82).
