Analysis:

Is the all-time Ivy League passer, but had a rough go this fall. He was constantly under pressure with a young offensive line and didn’t have time to set his feet and throw. His receivers dropped numerous passes. Good height and arm strength to play on Sundays. Can make all the short medium, and long NFL throws. Hard to read at times because of the overall personnel breakdowns, but his accuracy and ball placement are good. Holds 45 school and 17 Ivy League passing records. Tough smart guy. Projects to be a solid backup who needs pro development. Downside: Marginal competition level. Fringe athletic ability and footwork in the pocket. Ourlads' NFL Scouting Services.

Played in 2014 Shrine East-West Game.Shrine report: Needs fundamental work on his pocket footwork. Has the arm strength to drive the ball down the field. Pro physical skills with a chance to develop. Must become accustomed to big time pocket pressure. Mathews is the all-time Ivy League passer, but has had a rough go this fall.
